Product Overview of Silicon Metal
Silicon metal is a product made by smelting quartz and coke in an electrically heated furnace. The main ingredient is silicon with a content of about 98 per cent. The remaining impurities are iron, aluminium and calcium. It is used in many industries such as steelmaking, iron casting, aluminium (aerospace, aircraft and automotive parts production) and silicon photovoltaic devices. It is known as the ‘salt’ of modern industry.
